An early morning walk around Altstadt Ulm was a perfect start to our day. It was a wonderful, if short, visit - we enjoyed every minute of it.

We had a quick breakfast stop at a bakery before heading back to our accommodation and packing for our return to the Via Romea Germanica.
Yesterday, for the first time, I was able to buy train tickets on the DB app - for some reason I had been blocked from using it before. It was very straightforward, Ulm to Landsberg am Lech, where we are tonight, with just one change at Augsburg, where we had a 21 minute turnaround. Plenty of time to find our way from Platform 4 to Platform 12.
Our train was due to leave Ulm at 11.12 and when a train arrived at that exact time we went to board it but luckily noticed that it wasn't an ICE train which we were travelling on. It turned out it was the 10.56 train to another destination.
Our train eventually arrived 13 minutes later ...and it lost more time on way to Augsburg. This meant that instead of the 21 minute turnaround we should have we had only 3 minutes at the most. It was a real race to find the platform we needed - we had to run with our packs and the train door shut as soon as we got on. Travelling by train in Germany isn't easy!
All was good though once we were our connecting train to Landsberg and we were finally able to relax.
Landsberg am Lech is a pretty town with the River Lech flowing through it, with part of the town on hills. The buildings in the centre of town are much like those in Donauwörth. Pretty pastel coloured gable buildings.

We were too early to check-in at our accommodation but we were able to leave our packs, so we headed off to see what we could find for a late picnic lunch. We found a seat in the shade in a platz.

The seat we sat on for lunch was on the side of the church, the Stadtpfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt, the Catholic church of the Assumption of Mary. It was built between 1458 and 1488, and was remodeled between 1680 and 1710.

After checking in at our accommodation we spent quite a bit of time at the Tourist Information Centre. We asked them if they could help us with an accommodation booking for Sunday as we were having problems finding somewhere we could stay.
The two women really tried hard, spent a lot of time ringing various accommodation places for us but weren't able to find anything. That left us wondering what we were going to do. We're lucky though, as a place I had emailed a couple of days ago replied to say that they had a room for us. Accommodation is becoming more of a problem now as it's school holidays plus we're moving into a very touristy area.
Late this afternoon we raced to a supermarket, a very small one, to buy a few things for dinner and tomorrow carry with us for tomorrow.

Landsberg am Lech is a large district town and the administrative seat of the district in the administrative region of Upper Bavaria. The medium-sized town lies on the Romantic Road and, according to the German Meteorological Service, is one of the sunniest cities in Germany. Landsberg has a well-preserved old town.
