We were still undecided this morning until I said that I would like to try our second opinion of walking 13 km to Münnerstadt but, once there, then decide whether I could carry on walking or to take the train.

| We were soon up quite high. |
Most of the walk to Münnerstadt was through woods and across farmland.
Not long after this we took a long-cut, in other words we had gone off route for about half a kilometre and had to retrace our steps!

We skirted around just one village on the way to Münnerstadt.

We went straight to the Tourist Information Centre in Münnerstadt, where had our passports stamped, but mainly we went there to ask if there was a supermarket in town. We were told that there was one but it was closing very soon!
As I had walked well with minimal foot pain I decided I could continue on to Rannungen which meant that we needed to shop in Münnerstadt as there were no shops in Rannungen, and the chap at Münnerstadt Tourist Information Centre confirmed this.

A quick trip around the supermarket isles later we had enough food for dinner tonight, and breakfast and lunch for tomorrow.
We had been hoping to find a café or bakery in Münnerstadt where we could sit out of the cold breeze as it was quite bleak, in spite of the sun. Unfortunately there wasn't anything like that and the supermarket had closed by then so we bought some bananas from the chap in this mobile fruit and vegetable van and sat on a nearby benchseat and ate them with buns we had just bought.

The walk from Münnerstadt to Rannungen wasn't as easy or as pleasant as the first half of our walk as much of it was on sealed roads, plus we were both tiring. Plus the whole of the walk was through undulating countryside and many of the ascents were very long.
Very unexpectedly we came across an old church. It was locked but we could see inside through a small opening in one of the doors.

We are now in Grüss Gott area. When we set off from Stade the all day greeting was Moin, or Moin Moin. Then further south we were greeted in the mornings with Guten Morgen, or just Morgen, then later in the day it was Guten Tag. Now Grüss Gott is the greeting.

To our great surprise we found a butchery and a small grocery shop in Rannungen. We needn't have carried food from Münnerstadt!
The butchershop was fantastic. We were like kids in a lolly shop as there were so many varieties of wurst that we couldn't easily decide what we should buy - we had already bought some wurst from the supermarket in Münnerstadt but we just had to buy some instore made wurst.
Rannungen is a municipality in the district of Bad Kissingen in Bavaria in Germany.
We finally decided on bratwurst and weißwurst then, much to our surprise, the woman serving us added two other types of wurst plus two dried salami-style sausages and two bread rolls at no extra cost.

We also bought some yoghurt for breakfast from the small grocery store. We now have too much food!
Rannungen is a small village. One of the very good things about finishing a day's walk in a small village is that we don't have to trudge through suburban areas for several kilometres.
We're staying in a room that's part of a farm house and courtyard tonight.
