Day 0 Stade

We've had a quiet day today exploring more of Stade, including the visit to the weekly market where we bought some wurst and vegetables for dinner tonight.

At the market.

We bought some potatoes from this very friendly chap.

A tasty Bratwurst each from the market.

A statue of a fish seller in the Fischmarkt - and a very hopeful cat.

This crane was used to lift the loads of fish from the boats.

Our street. Our accommodation is in the grey building on the left - the windows above the shop.

We also went to the Tourist Information Centre to get our pilgrim passports and badges for the Via Romea Germanica. We will need the passports to stay in many of the pilgrim only places along our way.

Our passports which we'll get stamped at various places.

Finally we went to visit Abbot Albert who sits in front of what was his Monestry, reading a book. We're meeting Sigrid here tomorrow morning before setting off on our way.

Abbot Albert and his Monastery. He lived here from 1240 - 1256.

These marks on the monastery wall were made hundreds of years ago by pilgrims as they set off on their pilgrimage.
